Personally, I’d spend the extra dough on the GTI. The 5 cyl is pretty poor on fuel for what it is. The GTI has a better engine, better brakes, better seats, better transmission, and is a software flash away from being a ton of fun. GL trying to find a manual trans GTI though. Word on the streets is that they are impossible to find. ---

But if i get a GTi, that gives off the impression that VWs are good for anything other than transportation. that’s not a signal i want to send. ---

You’re afraid you’ll actually like the GTI. I see a lot of older people buying GTIs too, they definitely are not aimed at the same demographics as the 1.8t vws. ---

The only reason I would’ve gotten a four door is if I was planning on regularly carrying people in the back. But I prefer the way two door looks, so I you like the four door better I can see why you’d get it - it has enough extra stuff to warrant extra money for sure. No manual though - that’s bizzzare - I didn’t think that was the case when I got mine… BTW I paid like $300 under invoice for my 2 door in May, during the previous sign and drive. ---
