# 1981 vw rabbit diesel, did they come tdi??

Just as the title states… I came across one for sale and the ad did not mention anything about being tdi or not. I have emailed the seller asking for engine bay pics along with others. I am just looking for some advice as to what to look for on these older rabbits.

No if its a diesel its just a DI no turbo.

If its the caddy diesel he is a DITB member. and its a solid truck/car

correct. the only US mk1’s to get the 1.6 tdi were jettas and 1 year of rabbits

there is no 1.6 tdi motor, it is a 1.6 diesel motor though
