It’s got a bent dogbone mount? You might be on to something with that being the only thing wrong with the shifting.
This could be a great beater or even a pretty easy flip for someone.

dont know much about vdubs, but how hard is it to find a shift linkage for one of these?

it may just be because the bad motor mount is throwing the linkage out of alignment
the strut towers are bad, scary bad. i went and looked at it a few nights ago. def would need some srs work on the strut towers. other than that, the car is in ok shape
also, needs a charcoal canister, im assuming thats why the idle is rough. you could have just bought something to splice the vac lines together to make it idle a bit better…
