The issue your thinking about is the “crank collar issue” which was a problem on the R32 RB26DETT.

All RBs have oil issues which were minimized through the various GTR generations.

The oil pump was still and has always been only one of the plethora of oiling problems the RB26 has. It is susceptible to premature failure due to “shocking” the pump. This can be done by even revving the engine at high rpms all the time.

The N1 oil pump is a stock pump with a higher pressure relief spring. It is almost as useless as the stock pump.
