I dropped the K member on my SN99 without removing the motor, its not that hard you just need a support bar which is like 50 bucks from HF.

i didnt pay too much attention to the rest of the motor build, however i think you should take that back apart and degree the cam the correct way. yes it will run with just lining up the marks, however it may still not be “right”. that can throw your valve timing and everything else off just a little bit, and you will not make the power that you could. you would be amazed at how much power is left on the table when things arent exact. go to any performance shop, or any engine race builder and theyll tell you the same.
that tubular crossmember looks awesome, how much of a weight savings is that on these?

Yeah I know. That degreeing the cams scenario has been haunting me since the day I bought the car. I knew I had deal with it eventually. Been reading about it for a while, need to get more specialty tools to do so.

Degreeing a cam has almost nothing to do with the marks on the cam gears and everything to do with TDC on more than 1 cylinder. It will take you a couple hours to degree them properly, and you’ll see very small, almost insignificant power gains from it.

If the cams allow it, maybe 15 hp… but it all depends on how low/off you start out. If dumb luck got you lined up good, you’re going to break even. If you’re way off base, you could see 18-20, maybe more…
If he feels like doing it, I’m certainly not telling him not to. Just be prepared to do a couple cylinders… and remember you’re dealing with more than 1 cam. Not as easy as on a single stick.

I need to purchase the solid lifter and ford spring compressor tool to remove the roller follower without having to remove the cams. I’m confident everything is lined up properly for the engine to be run. I’m more worried about breaking the motor in before snow fall. Over the winter I’ll get the tools and degree the cams next spring before I go big boost.
If adjustment is needed the cam sprockets need to be filed to allow for more movement on the key ways.

got the motor in tonight. worked 8-6 today, came home and got right to it. took off of work tomorrow so i can get the tranny, ds, exhaust crap in. then its wiring, fluids, and firing it up.

got everything done today, except for firing it up. and my pcv setup, ha. it started getting cold so i cleaned everything up, and ill keep having at it tomorrow. here is where it sits.
