# 2006 silverado fm promblems need help

I got a 2006 silverado with an am/fm cd, no xm. The FM sucks. It will be playing fine one second and fades terrribly the next, even while sitting still. It is not a weeak signal problem, as it will do it with my sirius also. Any thought or ideas how to fix this?

That happins on most all GM trucks,mine does it! sucks

Hell it even fades when sitting still. And I agree I know several people that have the same problem, but theres got to be a fix right?
I saw on the net that some are saying that the ant. lead gets water into it and cause this, but I have even tried hooking up another ant. without any real help.

signal booster will help for the antenna. My silverado does similiar thing and i have a aftermarket radio. one second clear next fuzzy

I was thinknig that, nut was also thinking bavk to one time in the past that a car audio shop told me that a booster would only amplify the static.

well take it for grain of salt. Just think of how many stereo shops you see around here and how long some stay in buisness

wow that really sucks… could it be a power issue to the speakers? but i guess if quik has an aftermarket radio that still does it, it’s not an oem power deal. lame, i thought vw’s were the ones known for bad wiring.

Kinda funny that you said that. My dad’s '06 silverado started doing this when it was about 3 months old, he took it to the dealer and they changed the head unit, no fix. He took it back a few weeks later, and the changed the rear speakers, fixed it for another 6 months. At which point he just gave up on taking it back.

Its the radio. We replace them all the time at work.
