And people were worried we were seeing the end of the power wars. 315 horses from an N/A V6 in a car that will be on the short end of $20K is very impressive… _now give us a decent IRS option, plz_ ---

I figured a move like this would happen soon, this is why I didn’t get a 2010 in grabber blue. I’m gunna beat my new 94 till I blow it up a couple times and then when I can get a 2011 that is a few years old I will start tinkering with one of those. :tup: to Ford! ---

It’d be nice to see some Mustang vs Camaro showdowns again. Ford hasn’t made a GT that’s been comparable in years. Hopefully they follow through. ---

at the SHO convention in july we were talking with the power train engineer that ford sent down do tell us all about the ecoboost. We learned a great deal of information about the engine. The swap to make a NA 3.5L or 3.7L twin turbo is very straight forward and they will hold a great deal of power before ecoboost internals/block is neded. He would not disclose exact numbers but it was more of a “lets just say a few of the mules you guys spotted earlier in the year were making substantially more power than production models.” the 3 engineers at the event also confirmed that the mustang will not be getting ecoboost as far as they knew. the PCM is already cracked for the ecoboost and results are promising. ---

Some more details about numbers and motor specs have been leaked from ford. apparently the new 5.0 is putting out 412 hp / 390 with a new six speed transmission. "AutoWeek has decided to let the cat get just a little bit further out of the bag this morning following last night’s first bit of embargo breakage regarding the 2011 Ford Mustang GT and its 5.0-liter V8 engine. So, by now you’ve heard that the new powerplant puts out 412 ponies, or 83 horsepower-per-liter. Now, AW wants you to know it also offers up 390 pound-feet of torque and that peak power comes at a screaming 6,500 RPM. The new powertrain combination will also return 25 miles per gallon, says AW. How does it manage this feat? With an aluminum engine block with cast cylinder sleeves and brand-new heads with four valves per cylinder, vertical intake ports and twin independent variable valve timing. Don’t forget the tuned exhaust headers, a forged steel crankshaft with four-bolt main bearings plus new pistons and connecting rods. And what about the transmission? Your choice of either the 6R80 automatic transmission or the MT82 six-speed manual.
