I did Alden -\> East Aurora -\> Coldon Lakes, sadly the longest ride of the season so far. +3 on the steak sandwich, I would also recommend the sweet potato fries.

What do you guys wear for boots? Currently I ride with wearing some snowboarding boots but the bulkiness is kind of annoying when trying to throw the sled around corners. Suggestions?

The route we took. Didn’t run the GPS tracker because we forgot the Garmin and the breadcrumb thing on the phone eats the battery too much for a trip this long.

I’m so jealous of you guys that got to ride this weekend. Best conditions we’ve had in a long time and I spent the weekend on the couch icing my injuries. I ordered my tail light kit and it should be here this week. Hope to have that replaced and back at it by the end of the week.

went out on my buddy’s Firecat on Saturday afternoon, kicked off from Pendleton and rode west out to The Office bar on the blvd for dinner. had the wife on the back so took it more slowly than I would have liked but the trails were really nice. On the way there we passed the groomer coming towards us, had some nice smooth miles of trail ahead of us. It wasn’t terribly busy on the trails while the sun was still up, but once it got dark we kept running into big groups of 5-7 riders that would fly past.

Pretty sure I came across the aftermath of that Saturday afternoon. Just saw a pile of plastic, two sleds on a flatbed all smashed up and some guy in a tracked skid-steer driving through the field to pick up the broken parts. Two cops on RX-1s were on site and since they were there decided to check paperwork and hassle me about my totally stock exhaust because they clearly have no idea what an old triple sounds like.

Was wondering if it was a single or sled or multiples. With 2 sleds sounds like someone couldn’t stay on their side of the trail. :tdown: to the fucksticks who just can’t back off the throttle a little bit. Can’t find anything in the news about it.

It was an open field, but a blind hill. The debris pile was on the downhill side, so my guess is some dude came blasting over the top dropping into the downhill on the left hand side and piled it up into the other sled. The one sled on the flatbed was missing most of its front end.

Ugh. Also saw some women died in Redfield this weekend. Failed to negotiate a curve and hit a pick up head on.

Wow… what the hell was she doing going that fast on 17? That’s not one of the seasonal roads. Only reason to be on 17 there is to use the bridge to cross the reservoir to go get gas.

These are the boots I have and I love them:

Still pretty bulky though, but I’m more concerned about warmth. I go with a pair of cotton socks and a pair of wool over that. Snowpant liner tucks inside the boot and snowpant outer shell goes over it.
Can’t help ya Beck, only been in this sport long enough to have 1 set of stuff. Besides that I think we’re pretty far apart on sizes anyway.

Cotton is a bad idea for a base layer. Once it gets wet it doesn’t insulate at all, and your feet freeze. Not sure how much of a sweat you really work up while snowmobiling.

Yeah, I know all the traditional logic behind it.
I also know that we rode one night last year that it was -10 ambient when we got back to the truck and I’ve never had an issue with cold feet using this combination.

Yeah, it’s only really an issue if you get wet, or sweat a lot. I switched to wicking socks years ago. Made a big difference, but there’s a lot more stop and go and sweating involved in my winter activities.

Those are nice. I got the GF the female equivalent when they were almost 50% off on Amazon. She loves them and has been wearing them to work etc.

I wear mine to clear the driveway all the time, as well as taking the kid sledding. Wouldn’t want to walk too far in them though.

This looks like a nice ride. How were the trails? Letchworth looks good. Was any part of this ride thin?
