i have a 94 mitsubishi 3000gt sl its a automatic tranny.yesterday my tranny went to s#!t. i was wondering if anyone knew the cost to swap my car to a manual trans if i have all the parts to switch it over. anyone know any places or anyone that wont screw it up. and a price would be helpfull. ---

Honestly, the price to have something done right, more than likely will exceed more than half the cost of the car, if not the full value of the car. Your best bet is to find a junk yard auto tranny, throw it in and, then sell the car and buy a car that is originally 5 speed. ---

For a simple car an auto-\>manual swap is easy. That swap in my project Miata, for example, took a couple of evenings and a Saturday or two. 3000GT… IIRC, AWD, All-wheel steering, etc… I think that swap might be an _awful_ lot of work to get right. I’m with the others on this- fix/replace the automatic and then sell it if you must have a manual. ---

His 3000GT is not a VR4, regardless, it’s pointless to swap, just buy a 5-speed one. ---

if this was a simpler car it wouldnt be soo bad. My accord I swapped in a 5 speed in less than a day. Relatively easy, but that is a much easier car to work on than a 3000gt ---

SL’s are pretty worthless,I bought one on here a few months back that was in excellent mechanical condition for like $2K.It would be best to toss a used auto trans in it and call it a day or sell it as-is for a parts car. ---

There is one here in the junkyard. it’s a 5 speed though. You’d have to pull it yourself since it’s a u-pull. Most Junkyards in NY will not sell a whole car. Period. Its against the law, not saying said junkyard will follow the law, but i know everything around here will not sell you a whole car. ---
