Getting it done tommorow at the tint shop out in Rochester. They’re doing 35% on the windows all around as well.
I’ll post some pics/reviews later! The dude told me they are opening a buffalo shop soon. I

She needs a bit of a wash after the ride to/from Rochester but here are a few pics! Went with 35% 3M carbon based tint (supposed to offer better uva/uvb protection). The clear bra is barely noticeable, you have to get right on the paint to really see it 🙂

I ended up having to drive to Henrietta to have it done, they are the only authorized 3M installer I could find in the area. The shop was called “The Tint Shop”, ran me $800 for the application (5 year warranty). It was a real pleasure of an experience too, they were very professional. For the $800 they covered the entire front bumper (including the smaller fins in the grill), the front fenders, the hood (all the way past the scoop and inside the scoop), and the turn signals.
I am very pleased on how it turned out! They are apparently looking to open a buffalo shop soon. I spoke with Sean Adams (store manager) and another tech named Alan, the shops contact number is 585-232-8468!

it’s shit…
if you can get it to go on right, which make take a couple tries, it will look great. there is a better cut line than on a clear bra, but that is where the benefits end.
i had it on my M3 and my S14… at first it’s fine but when it gets cold there will be frozen condensation underneath it and the whole thing goes to shit from there.
when the film gets cold and wet it weakens…

those last marks were literally someone just touching it to feel it and it fell apart.
getting it of is a pain in the ass when it is in this state. basically the adhesion isn’t consistent. I spent over 2 hours just taking the small areas off the fenders.
i left it on the hood because it wasnt as bad and i dont have the time.
weird thing is though… it warmed up in the last 24 hours and the hood now looks great again… all the spots are gone and the great cut-line is back.

I’ve already reached out to 3M about this but havent heard back. It is possible that it is user error however, both cars were done indoors at a paint shop and were allowed to cure for days indoors… better than any conditions a typical end user will have and all of the directions were followed.
when it looked good it looked great and i had it at the BMW dealer and the Porsche dealer and they all agreed it was a viable option. however, they havent seen this mess in person.
the whole thing strikes me as a product not ready for market and certainly not suitable for colder climates.
also, how well can this thing possibly protect you from paint chips if it is this weak?
