Nah not the empress… there was like a 20 story hotel they started building back in the 80’s… for some reason it was built literally in the middle of the road and you had to drive around it… it never got close to even being half finished and they ran out of money and it sat there as a frame of a building for like 20 years… they finally got rid of it

Damn, I got scared. If they got rid of the casino I’m going to cry. I have been meaning to get down there and take pictures of it before they do…
At 3am in the middle of the off season, that place is creepy as hell. Awesome pictures to be had.

the casino is still there… They tore down the building that had the big Tilly faces on it… The big aqua building… They tore down most of the boardwalk… The boardwalk is all new wood but a lot of the buildings along it are gone… The howard johnsons is still there… I wanna take a ride down and go explore everything thats boarded up… i did a few years ago but i didnt have a camera, this time around i wanna bring a camera and break into some of the abandonde shit thats still there

Well, we were staying at the Empress at the time, and decided we wanted to get some food at IHOP, but went the wrong way on Rt 36(?) and ended up getting pulled over for speeding. I got arrested for being drunk underage, and apparently there was a curfew. Like I knew this. I’m not even from the same state.
So, the cop who was the spitting image of officer Farva, calls my parents who then scream their heads off because they had never heard of anything so stupid in their life. The cop calls me a fucking cab as my friend who was driving was also underage, and got booked for DUI. Underage girl in a shady ass part of town, taking a cab back to the half abandoned hotel. Nice.
That was the last time I went to Asbury Park. That’s when my aunt moved to Brick and I started haunting around Point Pleasant and vacationing in the Tom’s River / Seaside Heights area instead whenever I would visit her.
Interesting post script to that story, last time I went to visit, her boyfriend and I were watching that show Speeders, and HOLY HELL isn’t the Belmar, NJ police department on the show!? My best friends. 😮

LOL thats great… How much are rooms at the Emperss?? It would be cool to stay there before it gets torn down, cause im sure it will… theyre tearing EVERYTHING down in asbury… Last time i was in asbury… we got chased by cops cause they saw us coming out of one of the abandoned boardwalk buildings… we ran into the casino and the cops were afraid to follow us in lol crazy ass bums live inside the casino lol. Maybe i’ll take a ride down next month
