>
> Have you tried to get your cage tech approved at Mosport or Shanneville?
> Does you cage comply with NHRA rules?

You dont even seem very knowlegdeable about Roll Over Protection Standards considering how EVERY single one will change from FIA, NASCAR or NHRA. As for Nascar… who would bolt in a like 12-20 point cage ? really the cage is part of the frame or chassis so its all 1 piece… "that was pretty stupid to refeer to Nascar bud…

I myself have never been to Mosport or Shanneville and have never built a cage for anyone who has been there… AT this point I have ONLY made Roll Cages for the Targa Newfoundland Rally which means the people are serious and know what they need/want since it takes thousands of dollars to get out there and then race, so I believe they would be alot more strict then people at Mosport or Shanneville. I have done a few Cages for a shop in town called, Evans Racing… They used them all for 1/4 mile etc… and I never got a complant from them either.

I deal with the Targa Officials on a very high level and they look over my work first hand… again 3/4 of Cages sold are bolt in and I had never had a complant from Targa Officials on a incorrect build and I got more Thank You’s from people in accidents glad that the cage worked rather then mad about wrecking their car.

Also… please show me a rule regulations stating that a bolt in cage is not allowed for the NHRA, I have never read over their standards or had too.

AS for a bolt in kit having tendancy to move… You just proved to me you dont know jack about Cages… If its built/designed proper and mounted proper then it is impossible for it to move/slide/slip or have any play.
Which gets me back to to point of if a Bolt in Cage was not safe/legal or proper then NO ONE would allow the use of them when probably 75% of people want a bolt in unit so they do not have the inconverince of not being able to remove it.

* * *

- Now lets get into your Knowledge of Roll Cages… You know someone who builds them. Big Deal ? I know quite a few as well but you do not see me dashing their work compaired to mine.

- Reading pretty much all your “hear say” information has got me extremely curious as to what you may actually know when it does come to safety/design of a Roll Cage or whether you are only basing your opinion which is that you just feel a weld in Cage is better/stronger.

- But really what is your back ground for Cages other then just knowing of someone who builds them or seeing one in your friends car. Have you been inside one which has rolled but had a bolt in unit inside which did not hold ? or it “moved” in your opinion?

Actually I do have the NHRA regulations I forgot Hector sent them to me in regards to a cage he wants built…

- the roll cage may be bolted or welded to the floor/rocker box via 6-
inch x 6-inch x .125-inch steel plates

So no where in the NHRA rules does it say that a Bolt in cage is not allowed…

My comment was not pointed to you … rather then to - Jedi\_Car\_Fan

Althought if you go to any CSCS events (as many of you were at last season … running mid 13`s) - you must comply to NHRA rules. And if you install a cage (regardless if you run 11.99 of faster) you still have to comply to the ruling.

I know for our drag car - they where pretty picky

Did you read what I siad? This is why i posted the second coment. I knew it would be taken out of context, but i guess that did not help.

I wsa not saying that a bolt in cage is better then a weld in, that is certainly not true. What i did say is that a bolt in takes more work and material. A weld in is better, but also creates an inconvenience with a car that is dialy driven.

I am kinda curious who on SON is going to be raceing in the NHRA??
My car may be fast this summer but I am sure it is not going to qualify for the NHRA and if it did then I am sure I would have the money to put a tubular chassis in it and not drive it daily.[/quote]

For a guy that is fighting the flu … you sure can keep an eye on all your postings … still haven`t seen any of you pictures. I have asked you 3 times to show us pictures (I would like to see more then a few) of your cages.

As for the targa in Newfoundland … I personaly a have been there although I heard that the ruling are not that tight. I also heard that the ruling in Ontario for cages - is a lot harder to pass.

By the way … these comments all started by the original pictures - at the beginning of the tread … if you are a pro at building cages - then why does the front part of the cage looks like ASS. you could have spent a little more time, and countoured the dash. For the amount of money you are asking for in this set-up, an extra hour of fabrication would a made a difference between “pro” and “beginner”

It looks like you can stand you for youself (hey thats great) … but pictures tell a thousand words.

if you had read anything at all you would know that “contouring” the dash takes away from the integrity of the front cage bars and then you wouls be better off not even having them.

the only other thing he could have done is send it through the dash… but thats already been discussed… so really… your argument has no relivance at all…

as he stated and you reitereated he has the flu… he cant go take pics yet… i have a lap top and sit in bed on it all the time if im sick. wtf difference does that make.

> if you are a pro at building cages - then why does the front part of the cage looks like ASS

looks like ass but works perfectly are totally fine man… now if it looked like ass and sucked at the same time… thent ahts totally different.

i suggest if you have THIS much to say about how BAD the cages are then you provide some proof of the cages YOU use or have been involved with… its only fair… dont you think?

It might be a week or so, before I go to O`brian motorsport ( and get pictures equal to the one`s on this thead)

In the mean time check out these sites - it is a good over view of what is out there in Canada an the US

I know that some of these sites are for the hardcore racers … but atleast you all have something to compare to.

Also

Here`s some pic. of the cusco cage installed.

Notice

-There is no side bar (it can be either low or swing out for easy)access)
-There is no rear brace at the rear strut towers
-There is no reinforcement bar over head - attaching one corner of the top of the cage to the other
-No shoulder bar

CSCS events as per their rule books (page 2) indicate for the season 2005 they will follow the IHRA ruling

[http://cscs.c7.ca/mydocs/media/docs/2005%20CSCS%20Rule%20Book%20-%20Mar.%2023,%2005.pdf](http://cscs.c7.ca/mydocs/media/docs/2005%20CSCS%20Rule%20Book%20-%20Mar.%2023,%2005.pdf)

Now check out pages 87 thrue to 90 of the IHRA rule book - regarding cage spec build up (in their they allow the cage to be bolted to the floor on. I share their opinion on the cage being weld together)

the cusco one is shit… what dont you get about that.

its not designed popperly and will not help in a roll over.

as well as you stated those sites posted are for race prepped cars…

there is really nothing wrong at all with jeffs cages… he meets all standards and as well has officials from differnt events sayign his cages are great

problems? i see none

I’ve seen videos of guys in Japan rolling cars with Cusco/Safety 21 cages
and they hold the roof up just fine. I am sure they aren’t good for rally
where you fall off the side of the mountain, but for daily driving and light
track use they are fine.

However, some people want something more, and personally if I were
spending the money, my cage would meet specs from all regulating
bodies.

i agree. it’s also so ppl can say that they have a nice blue cusco cage in their rides. if its good enough for signal its good enough for me. But if i were to have one installed I would prob look in to Jeff’s cages, mainly for the customizability and price.
