Probably the same people who think the biggest injector is the best.

fggt ass pussies. i dont even run wastegates on my car. i like to let the turbo be free like a bird.lol

but seriously, i run a 38. and even though i plan on runnin a 42r im still sticking with my 38mm.😉

single 38 with a 42r? my guess is only will be ran on race gas and high boost

Do you think that you can only run high boost with a single 38 on 42r set-up?

Newman, i feel your pain, but fuck em and keep making cool shit. Its worth it for the few car-smart people who understand.

it would all depend on the manifold, the exh housing, what the car is revd to etc, no way would it hold on a 4 cylinder, especially one that revs really high

there really are too many factors, but there is not one bad thing about having a bigger wastegate than needed to keep the boost under control (except cost and space restrictions)

The smallest possible WG will have the most accurate control of boost.

within a certain paremeter, but on average the larger wg will give you a broader range and more flexibility for shitty designed manifolds

difference between 38mm and 44mm control is negligable on most t3/4 turbo (except where needed because of creep), or atleast the 20+ ones ive built/owned

things where bigger (then you actually need) isnt really better

wastegate, blow off valve, injectors, maf, throttle body, exhaust tubing

oversizing any of those items is like installing a garage door in your living room just so your dog can let himself in / out when he pleases

I stated this thread a while ago in the tech section, and I’ve been saying for a long time that bigger is not always better. This article had alot of really good explanations and info in it. Good explanation on why the 034Motorsport guys running a 42R on a 5cyl 20vt Audi motor with a siqqqqq 60mm tial had more problems controlling boost with that as opposed to the stock Audi external gates from 1993.

The 44 is a pretty good compromise, and vbands are fucking awesome.

I only ran into creep issues w/my 38mm if I was running ~15lbs – new manifold setup came w/a 44mm v-band and WG… else I woulda kept my old 38.

I’m sure you realize, but you’re splitting hairs. To say that a 44mm is needed is certainly not true for most cars, but you can control boost within a barely measurable range using one. How restrictive your exhaust housing is will play into it too. The WG size for a .63 housing on a 35R will act differently than a 1.06 housing on the same setup.

Is 44mm needed for most of us; undoubtedly no. I needed one to make up for my small penis.

depending… just for sake of information i agree with the maf and throttle body,

the wastegate is negligable unless your talking about someone running a 60mm wg on a 14b turbo

injectors- pretty much any decent engine management these days can idle a 1000cc injector like stock (incase of the bosch injectors better than most stock cars)

exhaust size- if a 2.0L na honda can gain 10whp from a 2.5" to a 3" change then i would disagree on this also… especially with a turbo i have yet to see a car lose power… is that bigger exhaust necessary? no but it does not hurt power (hence people running open header)

On a turbo car you can GAIN power by taking the exhaust off completely
