Whatever.

I’m replacing the turbos with used ones that have no damage at all. Parts is parts.

I’m not about to spend $5-7000 on a K04 stage III setup for a car I’m selling.

If I wanted a fast AWD car that I could modify for cheap I’d buy an WRX STI. I bought this car because:

1. It was a good deal
2. Because its a nice DD.

I’ll be fine on these stock turbos. I won’t have the car anymore than 10,000 miles if that.

Today I tore into the motor.

I got both new turbochargers installed, with new hardware.

Motor:

The car how it sits getting a free car wash:

Old turbo(Notice dinged up blades):

The turbo that blew had no blade damage, no shaft play either. However there was a large amount of oil in the turbo outlet. The housing was also cracked.

looks good. reminds me why i stayed as far away as possible from the b5 s4. doing the rear coolant flange on my b6 a4 was a big enough PITA couldnt imagine wrenching on one of these for an extended period of time.

You need much better pics on your ad. $8500 is a different league than a $4200 car. Otherwise, nice flip.

I’ll get better pictures eventually. That’s realistically what the car is worth based on averaging what they go for in this condition and mileage, so I’m not concerned with it not selling.

I gotta get my shit together today first though haha. I had to buy a new motor mount, a coolant banjo bolt, zip ties and g12 and new power steering fluid.

On another note, hows your turbo F-body project coming?

My turbo F-bod project? I would assume you are talking to someone else.

For the for sale ad, from experience, I would say to make sure to get all the little stuff done first. Get those good pics up there ASAP as you have to remember that you are leaving a first impression on everyone who sees the ad.

My bad I’m thinking of turbo SHO

Thanks but this is not the first car I’ve sold…(Prolly my 8th in 2 years?)

I understand the aspects of selling a car.

I don’t own an SHO anymore. You are mistaking me with someone else (somedude?).

You may understand the aspects of selling a car but you clearly don’t understand the more subtle but very important points.

Do whatever you want though.

Car $4200
Parts:
$250 for turbos
$50 for hardware kit+$15 shipping
$5 for misc banjo bolt I broke+$5 shipping
$35 for 3 liters of g12 and hydraulic PS fluid $+15 shipping
$30 for new motor mount $10 shipping
Zip ties: free
$12 for special tools
$25 for AC recharge
6 days work time.

Total project cost: $4652
Sale price: Looking for $8000 realistically
Profit: $3348

In addition to Firebird formula sale.
Bought for $5750
Sold for $7000
Profit: $1250

Total funds as of completion: $10,348

Don’t get me wrong, This S4 is a sweet car. It’s worth every penny I put into it even if I were to drive it into the ground. It does everything any car enthusiast wants (Acceleration, comfort, handling, practicality) and it’s not like it’s expensive either. The only thing that’s wacky on it is the amount of labor to get everything done properly. The car is 100% everything I wanted it to be and more when it comes to reliability and drive ability as of right now. I’m not a VAG rat anymore I guess.

I’m looking at a 24v Cummins turbo diesel pick up for $6500 and the rest of the funds are going into further car investments to flip.

Not bad for a 17 year old who started out with a $300 Ford escort with the same mind set I do now. The only thing boning me is that I’m limited to 5 personal transactions per year by NY state until I get my dealer license at the end of summer.

I started off working at McD’s when I was 15. About 30 flipped cars, and 4 years of school, I live in Houston, have a great job, no loans, and a paid in full vette and M3. Doing the AKA Rally this year, yippy, getting married (too much $$$) and maybe buying a house. Got to have the drive to succeed my friend, good for you.
