Well I finally got the harness together, the one i bought was the wrong one. And guess what, the fucker runs. Not well, but runs and moves under it’s own power. So now it comes out, I know it all seems like a waste of time, but it was a personal thing to see if it ran at all, and if so what might be wrong with it. It sounded like there was a bottom end noise when I first started, but after running a few minutes it sounded like it was just missing bad. But it was producing a lot of white smoke that had a really rich smell to it. Didn’t make sense to me. But it is two bolts and the exhaust away from going out. Then I can find out where all of the water was going… ---

sounds like a head gasket. The miss/white smoke tells me so. You do a compression test before pulling it? ---

What can I say, some times I’m a dumb fuck… I guess I could still do it though, I mean technically is is still bolted to the mounts. The torque converter is disconnected form the flywheel, and the intake is off. ( pulling out the top as suggested in the Haynes manual) But I guess i could still do a half ass-ed compression test. ---

How do the plugs look? Any of them white or really light grey? A compression check can tell alot about a motor’s condition. As long as the intake is still on and the starter/flywheel is still in it, you should be able to do a comp. test. ---

Could have moisture in the exhaust. Lots of cars I fixed with bad headgaskets smoked for a while even after being repaired. ---

Well as I said I got the engine out last night, and got it tore down tonight. Upon removing the plugs I found that they are were really fouled black. The number 3 plug was even smashed shut, seemed odd. But no real signs of a blown head gasket. I wonder if they have an oil return problem, or if it’s just age? that top end looks as bad as the 3.4 i bought for my car but smashed plug takes the cake. ---
