Does anyone have any idea how complicated it would be to put a 4th gen Maxima climate control system into an S13 center console? I haven’t taken any measurements (my daily driver is a '97 Max), but off the top of my head, I think it’s about the same size with some faceplate modifications. One of the nicest things about the Max’s climate control is the ‘auto’ feature. Set it to 28C and once the engine has warmed up, it will automatically turn the thermostate on. And when it gets to 28C, it turns the system off as well. Just would like this luxury in my project s13 at some point. Thanks, Brent ---

Possibly. Depends on the wiring and how much fab needs to be done to put it in. It’d still be nice to have though. And probably unique as well. ---

the japanese s13 climate control is digital, you might want to try research that and get your hands on one. ---

How about the previous generation maxima, the one circa 1990-94. I’d bet that it would be a bit closer to what you need and they are readily available in most scrap yards. ---

thanks for the help. I have some friends on [Torontomaxima.com](http://Torontomaxima.com) who have 3rd gen parts for sale. I’ll ask them. As for why…I could try to sway and persuade you with my solid arguments and logical reasoning…but in the end…it’s cuz I wanna. But I appreciate the help. ---

this mod is much more difficult than it may seem. it’s not just about making the face plate fit. there are lots of thermometers and sensors that go along with the unit that allow for the automatic temp settings. good luck with it and if it works out. share your DIY experience with us hehe. ---

not only are there alot of sensors, btu you also got convert the vent shaft controleer (for lack of a better word) from manual to auto. thats the thing thats sets it to your feet, windshield, ect. a guy that works at tiger automotive, forgot his name but i think its ali, did this conversion to a '93 lude (JDM OEM Honda prelude climate control). he built thsi contraption behind the climate control to activate the vents.he said it was the hardest part of the swap and it took him about a month. he is a whiz at wiring, and it may be difficult for someone who isn’t. u just gotta research where the sensors go. i think it would be alot easier to do it from a silvia climate control, rather than another model because the sensors may be different and designed specifically for each chassis. but it probably can be done, with alot of time. good luck! ---

I’ve been putting ideas away and refining my project (still in the design stage) for over 14 yrs now. ‘Time’ is not an issue. And if I can pull this off, it’s just another ‘trick’ thing to add to my S13. I mean, if I wanted easy, I would have bought a WRX STi. 🙂 Thank you for those insights though, I hadn’t thought about the actuators/servos to control the movements of the vents. The plot thickens… ---
