i jsut think its amazing that the way cars rot here, that the body was in as good of shape when you got it. hell, ive seen cars that were a quarter of its age in much much worse shape ---

Luckily, only part of the rocker panel was bad. We put in new sheet metal. I think we are going to redo the metal work there though. It’s going at a decent pace. I just picked up a power steering unit from an 86-89 Camaro that I’m going to retrofit in it. And the quarterpanel should be welded into place tomorrow night. If so, more pics and a big smile on my face 🙂 ---

WS6 12.7:1 unit or the stock 14.1:1 ratio steering box? either way, gotta be an improvement… EDITed: (some stuff) yeah, the 14.1 i had was really go kart-ish anyways, it really doesn’t Need to be much tighter… ---

Wasn’t going to be picky since manual steering in the Camaro sucked. And if my wife might occasionally take it for a spin, I want her to be able to handle it. As for power loss, the motor will be making enought hp that it isn’t a concern. 🙂 ---

So if you want to technically add it up, it’s about the same total but no Foose stamp on it. I check the progress at least every other day. I have some days off next week to pound away at it. I’ll get some miles on it this summer, at least til the snow flies. ---

Power steering gearboxn and motor mounts are in. I swapped a 86-89 IROC Camaro power steering unit into the Camaro. The pitman arm has to be swapped out on it and some metric adapters, but overall an easy swap. It fits into the same holes that the 69 unit used, so no drilling 🙂 Pitman Arm pulling tools work wonderfully. It took me longer to drive to Advance Auto Parts (1 mile away) then it did for me to pull them off the 2 units. The previous owner had some custom steel mounts made, so I bought original ones to replace them. Now they don’t look ghetto. ---

Nothing a little clean up and masking won’t take care of 🙂 Plus when you paint a car, the steering is usually in the car already. We have to be able to move it. It’s not hard to mask either with the engine out. ---

Front end is on to line up for fit and finish. The underbody of the car is all finished.
