# 78 percent of Americans want 40 mpg legislation

I went to the EPA’s fuel economy site ([fueleconomy.gov](http://fueleconomy.gov)), and downloaded the 2006 and 1990 list of cars, entered them into excel, and sorted by combined EPA rating. In the top **30** cars, _ **7** _ were manufactured in **2006**. First place was the '06 Prius at 55mpg, 30th was the '90 Civic HF at 35mpg.
