# A/C Evac/Recharge, ASAP.

As the title states, I’m in a rush to get the A/C on my car evac’d and recharged as soon as possible. I leave for vacation on the 5th and would rather not drive with just the windows down. I got quoted for $150 at Pep Girls and that’s only if I can leave my car with them for all today/tomorrow…not happening.
Any help would be appreciated and of course paid for.

Two cans of juice and oil will run you ~$30 plus a good valve and line another ~$25.

Problem is - both of those links above talk about recharging **ONLY**. I need the same thing - both evac **and** recharge. My system was open to air, so there’s gotta be some moisture inside that a vacuum would boil off.

you don’t need an evac, you need a vacuum and recharge. smart though realizing you need to remove the “air” and moisture from the system and not just cram a couple cans of crap in it. harbor freight has vacuum pumps that are compressed air driven, and electrically driven as well. pretty cheap considering if you buy a set of cheap gauges, pump and a can tap you’re at the break even point for a typical suck down and recharge at a repair facility and you can start charging your friends.

Hmm that’s a good point, as for my car I solved my problem by just using another car for my trip that has working AC, although when I get back I’ll be looking into this more for my car.

electric vacuum pumps are more $$ by far, but much nicer to use.

I want someone to recharge the ac on my grand am :[
I wanted to do it last year, bought the kit to do it myself… but the fill spot was way the fuck down near the firewall and i’d have to stick my hands next to the serpentine belt…
which I don’t feel like doing.

You don’t _really_ need to EVAC the system. Toss a couple cans in and see what happens, I’ve had the stuff work great for 5 years +.
