BorgWarner Supplies Turbocharger for Revolutionary Dual-Charged Gas [Engine](http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2005/10/20/146020.html#) AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 20, 2005 – The first dual- charged direct-injected gasoline engine, which is expected to debut on the new VW Golf GT, uses a K03 turbocharger from BorgWarner Turbo Systems. Volkswagen introduced the engine, which it calls the “Twincharger,” at the 2005 IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany in September. The 1.4-litre engine is boosted by a supercharger and the BorgWarner turbocharger, which has an integrated exhaust manifold and blow-off valve designed specifically to meet the requirements of the new high-performance unit. The result is reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions combined with more torque and enhanced engine durability. “This revolutionary combination of direct injection and turbocharging offers great potential for the future,” said Roger Wood, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Turbo Systems. “The use of dual charging improves response time in small-displacement gasoline engines. The result is an exceptionally agile engine that combines exceptional drivability, fuel economy and reduced emissions. It is truly an ‘industry first.’” The 1.4-litre engine with 125 kW will be available beginning in November. A 103 kW (140 bhp) version will be launched in the VW Golf and VW Touran in spring 2006. BorgWarner Turbo Systems will supply the turbocharger for that version as well. BorgWarner also worked closely with Audi to develop the world’s first gasoline engine to use both direct injection and a turbocharger, the Audi 2.0-liter Turbo FSI. i have psi fi did the twin charge on the mini cooper s works edition and are coming out with a kit for the lsj motors just never seen one being made for the public out of the factory is the point i ws goin for ---
