First off, i know its too high. Im okay with it. The room is very long and the couch is on the other end. There will be a soundbar in front so it will hide all the wires.

I have an ultra slim mount ready to go, and i plan on mounting it in the mortar and not the brick. This will make it easier to fill in if i ever decide to take the tv down. My only question is should i use the hardware in the kit or should i buy masonry specific bolts? I’ll post pics of the hardware that came with the wall mount tonight.

If it were me I’d use as many masonry fasteners as the mounting bracket will allow in conjunction with an adhesive in the anchors, epoxy or construction adhesive. Set them a little deep in the hole so you can patch with mortar when you take it down.

Definitely not whatever crappy fasteners came with your kit. I guarantee they are crappy. Go get yourself the best fasteners you can buy, with the heaviest weight rating for a masonry application. It will be the safest $10 investment you have ever made. I did the same thing above my fireplace with a 54" heavy plasma and it has been rock solid for a year.

Hide the cable boxes in the cabinets and get IR eyes and a transmitter. Would look AWESOME.

+1

Same setup here, 54" above fireplace and our seating is ~15 feet back. We use an IR remote for everything so no visible wires or boxes, just see a TV mounted on the wall…looks awesome.

I’d just use lags with lag shields. You don’t need the best fasteners money can buy. Just something with the proper amount of shear strength.

Maybe a decent hollow wall set if you really want to get crazy. Some lead anchors with some 1/4" all thread would really hold decent.

The fasteners have been covered so I’ll just add this. Get rid of the ultra flush mount and get one that can tilt. Since you’re mounting it too high having it tilt down a few degrees is going to make a huge difference.

I put mine above the fireplace in my house and it’s fine. I like the high tv and it doesn’t get to hot up there either

Once the sound bar is front of the tv you cant see any wires. Im going to run them along inside of the shelves and use white HDMI chords.

I used lag screws into the 3/4" plywood (subwall). Its been over a year, and its still holding a 52" plasma.
