The shoes have a sticky combound and you climb with your ass out to get more shoe surface area on the rock and better traction.
I’ve climbed and had to let go and jump to reach a spot. Even with a rope it’s scary. He did it a few times free climbing! Holy fuck.

Yeah that’s what I found crazy, the physics of going no-hands and getting enough traction to push that hard for a jump is unreal. Super badass
