Came home from work today and heard a leak …turns out one of my tires has a gash on the side wall…awsome!..i have heard i should replace all four tires at once and input or thought on this…

It is smarter to replace all 4 when it comes to awd, but what’s the condition of your tires? I mean if they’re worn down more then 15-20% to be on the safe side replace them all just so you don’t do any drivetrain damage.
If they’re newer idk if they still do this, but you could buy one identical tire and get it shaved down to match the rest.

I had 2 different rear tires (1 was new, 1 about 50% due to a similar story) on my B5 A4 for a over 6 months and it had no effect on the car. My advice would be not to run different tires, but it probably isn’t a huge deal. I have seen evo RS’s (3 LSD’s) with all different tires that didn’t hurt the drivetrain.

Take a tread depth measurement and see how much of a difference there is. What kind of car? How long to plan on keeping it?

I had one that got a gash in the sidewall somehow… I ended up buying one on Ebay with the same tread as the Other 4. It was a shit brand tire (Wanli), but they were all 6/32 or so… So I didn’t want to trash them. I’m just OCD when it comes to tires, I drive a FWD so it doesn’t really matter as much. If your existing tires are good, give ebay a search. I got lucky, lol. tire was $20, shipping was $10… I felt like I made out like a bandit -.-

I love my all wheel drive. Every car has its pros and cons. If the car already has mismatched tires then thats a problem of its own.

as long as its the same size tire it wont matter if its less then 4% difference, Evos come stock with a doughnut had to drive mine on the doughnut from PA to north Carolina and those are LSD…
I run mis matched tires on everything because I’m Jewish and take the used tires from work.

If you replace it with another tire make sure its the same brand and make within 1 or 2/32nd of difference.Different brand tires anrt all the same height.if you take a tape measure around them they can be many inchs longer or shorter.I see this all the time at work and people wonder why there t case is all messed up or on turns it makes weird noises now that they replaced 1 tire.
