# Aluminum Radiators - SR20DET (civic parts?)

So i just got this stuff in as it just became available.
It’s a 2" thick aluminum radiator for SR20DET, it’s not a Koyo, it’s an imported rad, and it’s supposed to be for an S14, but if i recall the only difference is the thickness between S13 and S14… Tons of people upgrade to S14 rads because it’s a bit thicker.
So, even though we havent gone so far as to try it (we will), this may be an awesomely inexpensive alternative to a $400+ Koyo.
I only brought one up, but i was told today that there are very very few available right now, so i may wish to order a bunch more depending on people’s interest.
I also brought one up for a Civic, a half-rad for pretty much any civic though it is said to be for an EK.
And then we have some sexy intercoolers… smaller cores… 27 x 8 x 2.5
These are actually an ideal size for civic, DSM etc. as well as milder 240sx builds for guys customising their piping.
SR radiator: $250 shipped
Civic Radiator: $225 shipped
Intercooler: $210 shipped

that appears to be an SR rad. a ka rad has the top inlet on the same side as the bottom.(passenger side)

The only difference between sr rads for s13 and s14 are thickness? They both have the same mounting points?

To be determined, but i know chris (canadiandrifter240sx) put an S14 rad into his S13 and it didnt require modification.
I was going to wait to put this thread up until after we tried it but i was bored yesterday, so here it is.
I’ll be taking my own car to SG for some servicing in the near future, i’ll bring this rad up and try it out if we havent already dont it by then.

I think the top pins for the brackets are slightly further to the outside on an
S14.

yeah that may be the case, there has to be some difference. But mounting your radiator is easy, it’s the hoses that get to be a pain in the ass if you have to customize them.
That and the fact that i know most people are hesitant to spend $400 + on a koyo on top of radiator hoses… But you have to have something more than a stock radiator on a boosted motor.

You’ll need custom top brackets if you use an S14 radiator in an S13. They are not even close.

yea I can 2nd that since I’ve got an S14 rad in my S13… other then the brackets thou, its all good 😉
Oh… and the outlet on the S14 rad for the overflow can etc is pointing in the opposite direction so you either gotta move the can or loop the hose around (not really a big deal/issue thou)

Either way, it’s meant for an S14 but i figured it would work for an S13 with minor work.

bing what is the size thicknes of the core on the rad? not the top or bottom tanks. is it 2" ??

update… these rads will NOT work on an S13… they bolt up perfectly, but the top tank is too tall for an S13 with a factory hood.
The rad pictured is being used on Andrew Comrie-Picard’s S13 that he picked up from the TV show we did a couple years ago. His hood was vented so it worked out okay.
