it was a play on the whole revelation that during the campaign Palin didn’t understand why there are two Koreas and also thought Saddam Hussein was at least partially behind 9/11.

The Yamoto and Musashi outclassed everything built by that time, even the American Iowa-class battleships (New Jersey, Iowa, Missouri, etc.) It’s main guns fired 18" Ø shells!
The A6M Zero was a good fighter, but it’s lightness only helped with handling - with no real armor or self-sealing tanks it was a deathtrap once .50cals started chewing on the wings. There were aircraft after the “Zeke” which were more of a match for the Hellcats and Corsairs, but the pilots weren’t - they simply died too fast and the new guys weren’t trained up to the par of US pilots. :sword:
The MG42 was a pretty bad-ass machine gun, though. Retarded rate of fire. That’s what the US M-60 was based on. :shoot:
Is there any preview for this series? Maybe I need to re-up my HBO too. Hmm.

But i really can’t wait for this. If it’s even half as good as Band of Brothers then it should be pretty awesome. Even Generation Kill was amazing, and it was only about 1/4 Band of Brothers

I know, but it had a lot of flaws. The Bismarck inflicted some serious damage and was never sunk by the British. it was scuttled by the crew to prevent capture. It was hit a zillion times and was listing, but the engines were running fine just no rudder to steer. They couldn’t sink it. They destroyed just about the entire superstructure from salvoes at near point blank range, but the design of the hull was excellent. The Yamato never amounted to shit. I was sunk in a matter of hours big guns and all.

ME262= too little too late.
P51 was an ok plane but the **P51D** was a beast. We can thank the British for that one. “Hrmm, I wonder what would happen if I took the 2000hp Merlin engine from my Spitfire and swapped it in place of the 1200hp Allison in the Mustang?”

Germany kept building things that sucked up a lot of resources. They kept building Tiger tanks which were vastly complex (compared to Pz.kpvIV’s,+V’s) when they could have focused on their proven designs and banged out thousands more. It wouldn’t have mattered though. It would have just prolonged the inevitable. They could build 3 Panther tanks for every Tiger tank, but they kept building Tigers. The Allies just smothered them with numbers, popping out Shermans like a pez dispenser.
I would love to travel to Europe and just head into the woods with a big-ass metal detector and see what I could find. There are so many vehicles/planes unaccounted for it’s not even funny. Every year random shit pops up on youtube. Mostly Poland, Western Russia, and Northern France. Here’s a few goodies:

did you ever see the wal mart of of panzer IV’s in Romania (i think) I cant find the website but i remember u could buy them for not a lot of money (imagine shipping costs :lol:)
Also, for years there were panzers buried along the turkish border as defensive positions following WWII

I’m sure those Panthers are still there. There is a place in Russia they call “The valley of the tanks” where there are literally 20-30 T34 wrecks from a huge battle that took place there. A little background story to the Focke Wulf video I posted was that 180ish 190’s were flown from a position in the south to several hundred miles north. Around 20 of them never made it (damn Russian winter, lol). That one is one of the missing ones. Obviously the pilot got out. You can see the canopy opened and the hatches on the side which contain survival gear. As for the T34 from the swamp, I guess it was dried out and started a week later. Zero rust on it. Must not have been any oxygen in that murky swamp water.
