# Anyone going to Detroit ish area in the beginning or mid august???? i need a ride lol

Picking up a car anytime after Aug 5th outside of Detroit and seeing if anyone is heading that way I can tag along with. I’ll even pay for the gas. Was going to just do a one way rental and drop off but figured I’d try this.
Maybe a ride in a caddy V???

I have a Jeep heading that way Sunday at 2, if you want me to pick you up.

Thanks but won’t work. Has to be after the 5th. Guy is a bigger shot at gm and being transferred to Fort Wayne. WON’T be home til that weekend before. Will probably just do a one way rental. You know how to get MI temp plates for the ride home?

MI you just carry the bill of sale as proof, if I remember correctly.

I may just get title and register up here. The car is about 90% of what I’m looking for in the car that I’ve been looking for for yrs. I figure as soon as I buy and register it I will find the exact one lol. Will call local dmv Mon and see what’s best. 39 day could work too as it would be getting close to fall time by the time I get home.

Michigan does temp tags because I got one when I bought the Expedition. The dealer did it for me though.

It’s a private sale. Would that matter? Thinking of just borrowing a dealer plate and driving the long way home and not through Canada. Looks like it will only be an extra hr and not be hassled by border patrol. They were horrible when I went to MI to order a new vette. Actually made the comment that I must have a lot of cash on me. I was literally like ummmmmm I financed it. Was 0% at the time

I doubt being private sale matters except you’d have to do the running around getting the tag, vs the dealer telling me to go have lunch and by the time I got back he’d have the office lackey back from their version of the DMV with the temp tag.
Canadian customs pulled me over for extra inspection but the guy who did the search was cool. We just talked about how much I saved by making the trip, how nice a shape the car was in (he even showed me how clean the underside was with his inspection mirror) then sent us on our way. US customs didn’t care at all. The woman had to walk around the back to read the plate because it was taped inside the privacy glass rear window but other than that it was “citizenship, where do you live, where are you coming from, have a good day”.
