# Anyone know a place...

…That does chrome plating? I recently bought rims that had the chrome peeling off of them. I contemplated stripping all the chrome and just painting them myself, but I would really like to restore them to their original state.
I called Carconi’s and they told me they don’t know anywhere in Canada that does chrome plating, but I’m not exactly sure I believe the guy. He also told me it would be impossible to powdercoat them because the metal in behind the chrome plating is too soft to sandblast.
I know I’m not “dead in the water” and I do have one out which is to paint them myself after stripping all the chrome, but I would really appreciate if someone could recommend a place within the GTA or outskirts that does chrome plating. Thanks for your time guys

try asking on a ford or chevy forum. theyd probably have a good idea where you could get it done.

Deterioting chrome is VERY hard to deal with. It can’t be blasted off, it needs it go in a reverse chroming process to remove the chrome and then blasted to powdercoat. Don’t know why the metal would be to soft to powder coat afterwards? Never done that. I have powder coated over chrome but the finish is not as durable as powder coating to the bare substrate because of adhesion to the smooth chrome surface.
