Hey guys, I have a 98 Grand Cherokee with the 5.9 (360ci) engine and my head gasket is gone. So I thought about doing something to the heads since I need to pull them. So does anyone know anything about these engines or does anyone know anywhere to learn about these engines? And also, I thought about changing the cam also, is it a long job to pull it out of the block? And anyone know of replacements? I really don’t know shit about american cars, I just know imports and Nissans. lol Thanks!!! ---

research. a v8 is no different than a L4. they have cams, chain/belt, heads, bottom end etc etc 3-angle valve job, chop the head…cam whatever you want ---

It’s a pushrod, there are no cams in the head. But thanks. ---

i beleive these engines respond well to porting and a set of headers. a cam is always a good option with any V8. but i do know that these engines are dam strong and a blower unleash the gates of hell - literaly. also be prepared for what little gas mileage you fly out the window. peace ---

lol, yeah, good mileage isn’t really my priority, I use around 28-30 liters per 100km (8mpg) in the city and 100% highway is 12-15 (16-19mpg) depending on the speed. lol Anyways, thanks for the answer. Do you know any forums with info specifically for this engine? ---

there are tons of v8’s with cams in the head. wtf is wrong with people. you ask for advice, you get it…then shit on people. ---

The Mopar 360 is a very popular motor, they’ve been using the 360 forever. I wouldnt fuck with it too much, do an Intake and exhaust and leave the rest stock and reliable. Sasha from SG-Motorsport had the same motor in his old jeep if you need to ask him anything. ---

but in all seriousness. mild port and polish. a good set of hedders and a mild cam and you’ll have a very good set-up. ---
