I think it would be mentioned as a reason why he probably couldn’t swim to safety, not to make it more tragic sounding. But the media in general is so shady I can understand your skepticism. ---

Here’s a great feel good part of this story. A volunteer fireman stripped off his clothes, jumped in, and tried to save this guy in the sinking car. While he’s out there trying to save someone’s life, some scumbag stole his wallet from the pants he had left on shore.
