I was watching “Derailed” last night and I got to thinking. In the movie, A guy cheats on his wife with another girl and while they are starting to go at it, they get robbed in the hotel. He gets his ass beat and she gets raped. I got soooo pissed off that he just laid on the ground and didnt fight back. I want to be able to defend myself and those around me if I ever need to. Im not exactly the fighting type but I wont back down if Im provoked. I dont have the best fighting skills, but I can sorta hold my own. I want to get into a self deffense class or some kind of class that can teachme how to fight. I tried the one at ECC but that was more of a martial arts type of thing and thats not what Im looking to get into. I want to know how to street fight. Does anyone know where I can get into some type of something that will teach me what I need to know? I dont want any of your smart ass coments or whatever, just legitamate info because I am 100% serious. Thanx ---

hahaha i dont think i’ve ever seen a movie inspire some1 like that. on a serrious note, im thinking the self defense courses offered at colleges and that are prob your best bet. i would also have to think that if some1 is robbing u or whatever, they prob have some sort of weapon on them, and a knife or a gun usually prevails over any kind of physical fighting. just my .02 ---

In a fight for your life type of fight,you want to go for the balls,eyes,throat. Reading books is always good,as is watching old episodes of walker texas ranger. ---

Defending yourself isnt just something you can learn overnight or by taking one course. Why not look into learning to box? ---

boxing is effective when you’re on the ground. especially since most fights end up there. get bear mace. ---
