# Anyone live/from Virginia?

Crystal and I been talking about where we want to buy a house at. The more we consider Westchester, the more we find out how much we love/hate it. Here’s our current thoughts:
1. Dirty South = NO.
2. Florida = She likes but I hate the heat. I love Disney land. Some NYers there. She has family
3. West Coast (Cali) = She likes it but only visited once. I don’t like snakes/scorpions/anything else that can kill a man. I hate the heat. I am pro East Cost
4. Mid West = Absolutely not
5. NE = CT is doable but it’s the same as NY where you pay a ton for little
That leaves basically the western coast above NC. Virginia seems doable but Washington traffic is a concern. I like the idea that it’s got some north and a bit of south to it. I really enjoy the History and some of its diversity. But, again, I am an outsider looking in. I can just about work anywhere but I’d probably live on the outside of a major city. Crystal would prefer a bigger city given her profession.
Anyone from there?

I think the Carolinas are amazing. Virginia is pretty much the same deal. I have family there/vacation there pretty frequently. Cost of living is either pricey, or wicked cheap. Depending on where you are obviously. But Shawn you probably pay the same living where you are.
Florida sucks. Wicked humid. Huge bugs that kill you, etc. Old people drive me nuts. Tourists drive me nuts. Eff that.
Midwest has shitty winters, it’s boring and flat, or too many mountains.

My goal is to live a normal life. I love it here but we can’t enjoy life with the stress. It’s ridiculous.

I’ve always been a big can of NC, but looks like thats not an option.
Never actually been to virginia, but several people I work with lived there for many years and I’ve only heard positive things about it.

Aside from the winters being stupid, I would suggest Maine. Housing is wicked cheap, nice view of the ocean (though you can never swim in it without getting hypothermia).

honestly, why not consider moving to another country ? its not as bad/impossible as you think and maybe turn out for the better
as far as i know you are heavily into IT and shit, so u can land a pretty nasty job in england, and england is no joke… the place is very VERy nice… and you would have no languages to learn !
and everyone is so soft ahaha and the police suck ass if your a fast driver its possible to get away, sorta , well idk the speed cameras now nvm…

I love Virginia. Milder winters than we have. Beautiful old houses. OCEAN!!! And mountains and lakes. Depending on what you’re into, it’s pretty much got everything. Good population, not too many rednecks. I would say it’s a good place to be. I always loved it there. Southern hospitality minus the “dirty south”.

We’ve debated going back to Italy but it’s a drastic change and we still have family here. For me, it’s not a big deal but she is a licensed attorney based on US laws. :lol

VA is very Mid-Atlantic and people are quick to differentiate themselves FROM the south.
NC is closer to being south, but the REAL southern border for the coastal states is SC and below, IMHO.
I’m going to end up in VA or NC soon, so I have all the pros/cons listed out.

ya virginia HAS to be nice actually i been there a few times in the summer only, but hell it was so nice, and charleston was a very nice and neat area
