I was told I was a shoe in and would get the job. I guess someone else knew someone higher up because I did not get it. I could never do corrections. I even hated bring people to jail that I arrested. The summer time is the worst because of the smell. ---

I took it last time, they messed up my paperwork though, friggen idiots! I would not take it again considering i had to go to the physical agility 3 times because somehow they kept messing up my paper work over and over then the lady on the phone told me i should have already had my interview but my letter said i had to take the agility again a 4th time. Best part was i passed it every time. mile 1/2 in 9:45 and the sit ups and push ups are cake. Way more easy the nys which i passed and was hired for years ago. Sherifs is a joke. Sorry for the rant. But if anyone has any ?'s for me about the process or anything pm me, i have gotten through it all various times and was hired by nys park. ---

I still talk to my trooper and park buddies but police was not for me. It was nice to get hired from 14,000 people who took the test and only 35 made it to the academy. They also screwed all my paper work up , i had to take the lie detector 4 times because they kept losing my results, then they messed up my background with a criminals! Haha what a joke that was. ---

The pay sucked and the hours sucked. I only did it because I enjoyed it. When I stopped enjoying it I had no reason to stay. Fortunately, my full time job at the time was, and still is, a school teacher. I was seasonal for the sheriff’s office for 4 years and was considering going full time and leaving teaching. I am glad I never did that. I make a lot more money teaching and I work a lot less hours. Summers off are a nice bonus too. ---
