Cool video and yes the shuttle progeam is kaput. Look to China, India and Russia for new space innovations since we’re broke.

We are not broke, just stupid.
Military budget for AC delivery, setup, supply and gas costs ALONE is bigger than entire budget for NASA.
Not cheap to AC the non insulated tents in the dessert.

I was in private school at the time, would have been 1997 or 98, but I did a project on how shitty the Shuttles were _then_. There was supposed to be a new spacecraft, X-33, being designed then, and for release in 2005… Yeah that happened.

if you think about it, the shuttle itself should have been discontinued, not the whole program…now all of those guys are out of jobs lol. seriously? why the hell would we do that. i guess we will just explore with unmanned craft forever. space exploration doesnt get you elected for a second term i guess

we should have AT LEAST went to the moon again and flipped the whole world off before we put the kabosh on the shuttle

The shuttle NEEDS to be retired. It is a 30+ years old design and most cell phones on the market have more computing power than their guidance system.
IMO, we will not spend more cash on Moon missions again especially when China is planning a moon missions. USA will not be willing to accepted to be seen as equals especially when it comes to space exploration. So we will instead do Mars missions instead, however small they are mainly due to $$$$, so at least we can say “we’ve already done the Moon, our space program is now about Mars”.
