So this is where most people will have a problem I have no issues with doctors/government taking away guns from people who have mental health issues as long as the process is clear and there is due process…They attempted to do this in NYS and it turned into a cluster fuck. ---

No one wants crazy people to have guns, but we also don’t trust the government to prevent that without trampling over a bunch of innocent people. Do you want state police sifting through medical records looking for hints someone might be unstable? That new blood pressure medicine you just started that could also be prescribed for depression gets your guns confiscated? What about requiring doctors to report unstable people? How many that suffer from minor depression or anxiety will avoid seeking help for fear they get blacklisted as unstable? We all know we need to do a better job keeping guns away from crazy people but it’s hard to trust the government to do it when so many in that government would much prefer total bans and will take any opportunity to remove gun rights from anyone they can under the pretense of “the greater good”. ---
