# ATTN: Grand Prix guys

Mom is looking at a 2002 Grand Prix GT n/a and i wanted to get some input.
It’s got about 53,xxx miles and in great overall condition like it was just a fleet/highway vehicle, but I haven’t driven it or checked under the hood yet. I know the common issue is the plastic intake cracking, but is there anything else to look out for around this mileage other than normal maintenance?
It’s at Wright Pontiac in Carnegie and I think they told her $10,500 for it.
Any input is welcome!

Gina has the same car, same year and everything. The car is ok minus the squeeks and random electical gremlins. but she also beats the crap out of the car. The only major mechanical problem she had was when there was an issue with a lifter i believe. And it took her dad a good amount of hours to fix it, that happened at like 80k and from talking to brian its pretty common. He might be able to chime in on exactly what it was.

GM 3.8 is a great motor…but after some limes a lot of them get a very slow oil leak from the rear main and the pan gasket…it is a decent amount of labor to replace those gaskets…I got me replaced when I had the tranny rebuilt. [www.clubgp.com](http://www.clubgp.com) is a really good site to ask around too

10,5 is alot for a 02 grand prix non gtp ! hell id give mine up for that much lol
brians gtp looks loike a killer deal and its supercharged

On the JJ’s GP, I don’t think she really needs an S/C’d car and was looking to go a little lower on the miles, even though she doesn’t really drive that much, just basically local.

And I only paid $1,500 for a 2000 GT
If you buy that car for whatever price don’t expect do ever get more than like 5K for it. These cars sell thousands under book vaule.

Yeah I’ve noticed they tend to not hold the value very well. gearhead what are the specs on your 00? She’s probably gonna stop down tonight and see what the bottom line is and we’re gonna go from there. She def wants low mileage (say anything under 50k or 10k/yr)

Mine is pretty clean, but the downer is 160k on the clock. Its blue with tan leather, GT w/ chrome 16" 5 spokes, steering wheel controls, dual auto climate, eq/cd, etc… new tires, new pads/rotors all around. I’ve been driving the crap out of it b/c its so nice!

my car was 9k, 40,000 2 years ago. For some reason lots think they’re in demand and mark them way the fuck up. I have no idea why, they’re not a hot seller
that mileage…look at the trans fluid first and change it if you buy the car. Other problems include lower intake gasket failures, TB nuts/gasket recall, egr warping plastic manifold(coolant leak), pan gasket, cat clogging…hmmm, I think that’s it. None of these problems are too hard to fix. The short block is practically indestructable N/A.
you really wanna find out whats going on hook up a scantool to it while you test drive

I appreciate the feedback guys. I think she’s gonna pick this one up, and I’m gonna be sure to check everythign out and change out all the fluids even if they check that out before the car is sold.
