Let me know how Special Forces runs when you get it Jack. I’m having a problem with the night levels and complex buildings for some reason… I can’t tell if its lag or my computer, but it gets real choppy… to the point where it’s imposible to play. I never had a real problem with slowdown in normal BF2. Maybe when there are 30 people on the screen durring an arty strike it would get a little slow, but nothing like this.
So far all the night levels are awesome, but in large battles it goes nuts… I’ve checked my ping durring one of these events and it was about 50… and if all 64 people are spawning in the large building in the North in the _Warlord_ map forget it - I just lay in one spot as a Medic and throw out kits since it seems like the game is running 1-FPS.
Maybe my 256mb 6600GT isn’t enough?

do you have any way of showing your fps on the screen? I downloaded something that displays it at the top right of my screen when i start BF2.
You shouldn’t have any problems with any game… your computer could land a shuttle on mars.

I know if you type: **renderer.drawfps 1** in the console it will show up in the upper left corner, but I haven’t tried it yet.
I’m going to give it a shot now and see how it plays.

Yeah… durring the night maps I’m getting “15.0/66.7 FPS” in quotes 'cause that’s what it says. It just peggs there in some parts of the map and doesn’t move… and when I move my guy around, he studder-steps all funny and I get shot ☹
Day maps and original BF2 maps I get “40/20 FPS” although I did see it drop to “15.0/66.7 FPS” while playing _Strike at Karkand_ but that was only for a sec. Hum…
Maybe I should SLI my video card?

how come you guys dont play COD2? or is BF:SF where its at?
im looking for a new FPS to play, and i thought a majority of ppl were playing COD2
i only have a AMD 3000XP+ w/ 9800 pro 256+ is that enough? : /

Booooooo. I’m running everything 100% right now, at 1024x768.
But I guess it’s worth a shot. I’m looking at my card, and even though its a 6600GT, it doesn’t have the connection deal for SLI… at least I don’t think :tdown:
Is there anything else in my setup that could be limiting it to 40fps? The last time I built a computer was in '98, and the last time I bought one before my new one was like '00…

Minimum Req’s for BF2:
1.7ghz Intel Celeron D / Pentium 4
AMD Athlon XP / Sempron
512mb RAM
128mb Vid card and GeForce FX 5700 or greater / ATI Radeon 8500 or greater
I haven’t played COD yet. I’m not into old war games. That’s why I never got into BF before BF2… and it’s quite good I think. 64 players on a server on the same map make it even more fun 🙂

Nate plays, but not often. I think there were a few others on NYSpeed who played… ?

Remember to start DLing the 1.12 patch as well… it’s like 300mb :tdown:
Everyone needs to use the patch… which isn’t perfect. I just lost a match because the flag my squad was after got ‘stuck’ in neutral. :mad: But I guess that’s 'cause the server wasn’t reset or something…
The cool thing is running around with the new unlocked guns from BF2:SF on a server where people only have BF2 - “WTF was that? GAS?? My screen got all messed up!” lol
Oh and there are a whole bunch more medals and awards too.
I’m going back into the game now to try and get my FPS up.
