im looking at an 03.
what are the pluses and minus of the car? i hear the trannys are the suck, can anyone elaborate on this?

For drag racing yes. For driving it how it was intended, it will last a long time.

Dropping the clutch at 6000 rpm from a dead stop is not good for any tranny.
Learning to drive would help a lot of the bad tranny talk people seem to spew all over the internet.
As far as pluses, they seem to run forever. A guy I know bought an 03 and modded it immediately. Last I knew he had over 100K on the clock and no problems.
Another plus…they sound cool.

Most of the glass tranny shit is due to little kiddies doing 6000+ rpm clutch dumps. I have about 79k on my 02 WRX wagon. Only issues I have are:
-1st gear syncro is a bit shitty when it’s cold out. But goes away really quick.
-Minor rattle from a plastic piece on the dash though it’s probably an easy fix.
Besides that havn’t had a problem in the year I’ve had it. This includes a few autocross events, and a full track day. If you are looking for a drag car, this is the wrong one. If you are looking for a fun to drive all-season car, that it will do nicely. 🙂
