# Automotive illustrations: would you pay for something like this?

Being that they would ultimately end up on the computer, the size could be as large as you’d want. My initial thoughts were to be able to provide jpegs that could be emailed, and if those are too big just postal mail a cd. Lastly, prints could be an option as I have a pretty stout printer…but largest I could do on one page would be 13"x19"

Even if this doesn’t go anywhere would you do some for me?
If you sent them as a jpeg that would work, as I can print in color up to an 11x17.
Maybe if you want work on one for me, my baby, my corvette. Then if you want to do more I’d prolly get the GTO,Cobra, 2 door //M and 4 door //M.
That will give me some stuff to hang up in the apartment! Let me know man, because that would be cool as shit.
Plus if I put them in my office or show them at local car shows you might be able to get more business. 🙂

Mike, I’ve been looking at getting one of the 'maro. I’ve seen prices all over the place. Depends on the show and the fame of the designer.
Tell me when you start doing it. I’m getting stuff to put in the man cave this spring.
And if you need a Wacom, etc, I might be able to help you out. PM me.
I’ll have to find it, but there was an artist at SEMA that did some awesome Photoshop renderings to make a complete automotive scene with your car(s), yourself, etc. There is a niche for it.

I’d expect to pay around $25-30 for a pencil sketch of my car. I think it’d be pretty cool so long as the drawing doesn’t suck.

Most cell phones and cheapo cameras can take pictures in sketch mode, I can’t imagine it being worth it to pay an actual artist.

If you truly believe this is the case, you have a blurred sense of reality and are not the target market for something like this.

So you’d pay a hundred bux to have a shitty sketch of your car (probably also shitty) that nobody but you wants to see? I’d rather print out a wax 24x36 at kinkos for a dollar.
and, have you seen the paintings done by those “professional artists” like in the mall?

I like the sketch. I don’t like the render. The render is too close to a 'chopped photo for me, while the sketch actually has some artistic value.
Only my opinion.

I think I’ll have to post up some of the line work drawings that could be had…perhaps someone would be into it? Plus, these types of drawings are the most enjoyable to do as they don’t involve a ton of time.

The fact that you brought artists from the mall into the equation truly leads me to believe you have no grasp of this subject.

I’d be interested in a quote for a sketch of my car. Ideally, I’d like an original pencil sketch, not that interested in an electronic version. So, I guess this might not figure in to your purchasing plans for equipment.

Congratulations for finding a business idea that works. Seriously this is a good idea compared to the Drive-thru dog washes i have seen in my travels. In these tough times the small businesses that make it generally have far out ideas and reasonable prices. Even if your just doing it for the hell of it have fun with it and good luck
