# B.O.V what are you using??

I am in the market for a blow off vavle and dont know what to buy there are so many diffrent ones out there.What are you using and how does it work ?how much?

Do any of you know of a BOV that “chirps” when it activates? When I go F/I, I want to have a BOV that sounds like that. For reference, all the World Rally Championship cars have those ones.
Or, if I was feeling like a smart ass, there’s always the “duck mod”: 😉

The HKS SSQV kinda chirps… and has the option of recirc. If you buy it, remember to get a steel mounting flange as well, because they only come with aluminum ones. (unless your I/C piping is aluminum)
I like the sound of the RFL but it doesn’t like to stay bolted to its adapter. Cheap quality of hardware. Also to adjust it you have to take the top off and add shims (washers).
The Turbosmart supersonic, and megasonic are my favorite. They stay bolted up properly due to much better mounting hardware, and are easy as shit to adjust, just by turning the top body.
The RFL was the loudest, follwed by the Megasonic, Supersonic, and SSQV

I’ve had a turboXS Type S, Type H and RFL, enjoyed them all… especially the RFL.
its more a whoosh sound. I currently run the Turbo Smart Megasonic BOV, almsot the same sound as the RFL but I haven;'t really noticed much… my cars kidna loud and haven;t had much chance with the boost lately.
the Greddy Type S and the HKS SSQV do tend to be more of a chirp per say… but I haven;t run one, just heard then from friend’s cars. I remember I could hear my friend’s greddy typeS two blocks away. it was nice.

I got a turbosmart supersonic with the single horn. I have never herd a louder BOV. Its pretty fun and never had any problems with idle or anything like that with stock ECM.
HKS is real cool too and that new Trust Type RS. Awsome sound!!! Works good!!!

Yeah…I’m not so much into the loudness per se, after all, that’s why I bought the second quietest exhaust available for the Spec V, it was more the actual sound it was making that I was interested in.
I think the WRC cars do indeed have a recirculation system to keep the turbo spooled, but I’ll be damned if I can find which ones they all use. They must use either the exact same model or at least similar interals, since the different manufactuerer’s BOV’s all sound the same.

i have HKS SSQ at 6psi… very squeeky :oops: but the hks sound changes if you turn the boost up.

what about those cheap ones you see on ebay and stuff?anybody got a used one kicking around they want to get rid of 😃
I knew to the turbo thing just want to make sure dont buy something that wont work with my set up.

What a person should do, is gather all the BOV sounds they can grab on the internet, and host them on the NECC site here and have a link or a sticky or whatever so others can hear how they sound.
Whoever has a video camera or audio recorder can sample their own cars and submit the sounds or video clips that way as well.
C’mon Aaron, hook these people up! 🙂

That would be good to have. Like Boost Infested said the pressure going through changes the sound. I prefer the sound with more boost than less.
