Looking to pick up a pair of front axles for my wife’s 2003 1.8T automatic Passat. Probably gonna go with a used pair online within the next couple of weeks but wanted to check locally first in case anyone had spares laying around. I know I could go rebuilt with raxles but am trying to save some money going this route. I’m gonna post up on DITB later this afternoon as well. Thanks in advance!

Thry are cheap new. Why buy used? Call Napa and AutoZone.

Everything I have read about online with the aftermarket has been that their longevity is horrible. Most times the axles are solid, not hollow like OEM, which cause vibrations at idle. Pretty much all the boards say avoid anything with chinese parts and go either OEM, raxles, or OEM remanufactured, hence why I’m looking for an OEM used set.

The newest OEM used axle is likely to be over 10 years old, maybe even 17 years old. Seems like too much of a gamble to me.

True, somehow I forgot that I could get rebuilt axles at NAPA so I’ll most likely go that route instead. I had it in my head that the local parts stores would only have aftermarket selection.
