# Back on two wheels, kinda.... :)

I’ve been itching to get this bike since the day I spied it. It is a 1973 Triumph Tiger. A guy I work with purchased it in 1998 off a man who kept it in his barn since new. It has 7300 miles and is a 750cc I2. Yes the shifter is on the right side. 🙂
It is not streetable as she sits, but I’m going to clean it up and put her on zee road.
What yah think?

I’m going to strip it down, paint the frame, rebuild the carb, have the tank acid dipped, new gas and oil lines, new brakes, new cables, new grips, polish the chrome and run her!

I’m thinking about making a jokey shifter for it…shifting with my right hand would be easy peasy.

Used to have a Bultaco with a right side shifter, you get used to it.

FUCK yes, a proper bike! My dad had a 69 Daytona that his friend kept in his garage for years. Got it running and then sold it for a 71 Norton Commando. The nice thing about the Tiger is the single carb, I can not tell you how many times he was dicking with the dual carbs. A popular swap is Makoney carb (sp?) say it ma cone e carb.

Thanks for the advice, I would be willing to buy one of those rather then re-build the stock one. I hope to start digging into her this week… Just cleaned up the garage and made a spot for her.

Absolutely. Take the fucking SU carb and use it as a paper weight. I bet even as a paper weight you will still have to fuck with the float and jets to get it to function properly.

Step one; make some room in the garage.
Step two; mock up exhaust…seems to fit just fine.
Tonight I pulled the tank and took it apart, should have all the rust cleaned out of it by tomorrow and back on the bike.

the brand of carb you guys are trying to pronounce is MIKUNI. do some reasearch on forums for what model of carb and go from there. this bike is super rad and I’m super jealous. do it right!
