Our dog injured himself so I was forced to take a couple days off last week to watch him. I hate having open projects and I have many currently, but I couldn’t really work on anything outside because I had to stay in the house with him. So after about 20 minutes boredom set in. I started playing around drawing up bar ideas; about an hour after that I started framing with some 2x4’s I had laying around. This is in a back corner of my basement that was kind of an awkward space. It really isn’t big enough to fit a TV/couch in this area and I never really knew what I was going to do with it, so this was a perfect fit. The door to the back is a bathroom, and the 2 doors on the right are bedrooms. First step was the 3d drawing to get a basic idea of size/design/what I wanted. I don’t have that on this computer, but I can upload that when I get home. There will be a counter with a sink on the left wall with a built in mini-fridge. There will be a kegerator in a closet behind the wall that will feed a tap in the corner portion of the bar. I’m undecided for the top surface right now. I saw some nice marble-like tiling that I might do. I also might just do Corian since I can get it for about $100 a sheet. Eventually I want to do a concrete top on the bar and on the counter (that is not built yet), but that will be a while down the line. ---

I just want it to feel like a focal point, if that makes sense. I have some plans of a projector screen, a dart board, and someday a pool table down there, and have everyone be able to use the bar to sit, make drinks, etc. ---

I “wasted” valuable floor space in my garage so i could always have a place to chill and drink beers, listen to music, and/or watch tv X… ---

Got some more done this weekend. The salesman gave me 20% off just by telling him my father received an email for the discount - he never asked to see the email or a coupon code. ---

I like where this is going, but that strip of drywall between the wood paneling and the stone below the bar top doesn’t look right to me. ---

Yup, there is trim missing at that corner and across the ground where it’s not painted. I think it will look fine once that trim is installed again. I didn’t think it would look right if the bar front sat flush with the wall and wanted to set it in a bit. If it still looks awkward I might carry the wood trim that’s on the bar over that whole strip. ---
