I would probably rock a SI, over a MS3 for a reliable Gooder gas mileage DD.

Forced induction isnt usually the best on mileage.

> If a chip adds so much to veedubs why dont they just give them a decent tune from the factory? Seems like it would be a win/win but no one ever said the germans made sense :gotme:

because the chip adds 50HP and +100ft-lbs. (That is engine power.)
It puts a lot more strain on the motor, clutch, turbo…any other part.
I could go on and on.

BTW. my gti is awesome in the snow. Get some decent snowtires and you’re good to go.

> ok just got back from a little shopping trip, here’s the results so far:
>
> 2006 mazdaspeed 6, after s plan and rebates, just over 25k with navi. awd, fairly peppy, garbage clutch. very smooth shifting but my oh my that clutch was like two inches off the floor. overall though i enjoyed the (short) drive, good pick up and comfort, good dd level. looks wise i like this car the least on the outside, but it’s not a bad looking car. navi was sweet though.
>
> 2007 mazdaspeed 3, 22875, no rebates, no special financing, salesman actually told me they’ve been sellingl for about 2k over sticker. again decently comfortable, decent options, the clutch was a little longer feeling and tighter which i liked, but fwd, meh…bit of torque steer, and not as responsive off the line as the 6. i think this is the nicest looking car of the 3 though.
>
> 2007 civic si sedan, 21290, probably the best bang for the buck. good amount of options and power for the price, great resale, not as quick but in the snow that’s probably a good thing. i should probably buy this car.
>
> if the 6 didn’t have such a weird clutch i probably would’ve bought it today.
>
> this is going to be a year round car, not a fun car, i have my z for that. and i’m not trading the z in, i’m keeping both for now, so i’m not really worried about performance from this car as much as just a good solid dd, so no rwd cars or gm.

I don’t know if you made a decision yet, but I noticed you were interested in the speed6. The speed6’s clutch engagement can be easily adjusted to get rid of the aweful cam spring feeling. Alot of us who have speed6’s have done it and aren’t looking back.

All in all I’m really happy with my speed6. I was orn between that and a legacy gt. But I couldn’t even get a WRX for the same prcice as the speed6.

Good luck, I guess I’ll read all the rest of the posts now and see if you picked up a car.

Definitely not for a DD… Lack of storage space gets old real quick when you need to run errands.

I’d say the Si.

Not that I’m biest at all…

No, seriously I think it’s good for a DD. But if you want a fast car go for the Evo.

i would go to a different dealer about that mazdaspeed 6. autoweek lists specials the manufacturers are running, and this week i saw that in there, and it was way less than 2k over msrp. sounds like home boy saw you coming.
