# better, longer lasting tires for drifting?!

so after shannonville this past weekend I’ve come to realize that I need to invest into better tires for next season. I say this because I was running average tires and they would only last me maybe 4 laps on fabi before they ripped to shreds. towards the end of the day I threw on my buddies (‘specialist’ on SON) g35 wheels which I believe had falken azenis on them. they were already bald when I put them on, but they lasted me 6 or 7 laps of hard drifting before they went down to the metal.
so what I’m asking, from people on here with lots of drifiting experience, is what are some good tires that will last me more then a couple laps? I’d rather fork out a bit more cash for better tires, then be done drifting halfway through the day because my average tires can’t hold up.
any input will be greatly, greatly appreciated. thanks.

What about those tires mark had on the leasings? I remember him saying they had some magical power to not wear out. Ask him about them.

just buy a new set off bridgestone roll on flat tires. super hard compound and they dont wear out. But if your drifting just save up a bunch of shiat tires and buy rims so that you go through a pair put on 2 more crap tires. its cheaper then buying 200$ a tire tires

Ask anyone who uses them, I used them and only used 4 brand new ones on my s14 SR few years ago on an 8hr drift event.

100% agree. 595’s are the shit.
The tires i had on the leasings are garbage. They last forever, but I hope they burn in hell and die.

i actually just remembered i have a two federal 595’s in my garage that i’ll put on soon. i’m hoping they last as long as everyone says.

Dude, i was the brown guy at fabi that day.
Get feddies. Or just run a new summer tire in general. New tires last so so long compared to used tires that could have been sitting for years before you used them.
I used some brand new ziex 512 or someshit at nelson two events ago. And they lasted me a good 2-3 hrs.
4 federals at 27-32 psi, would last you whole day. And they end up being cheaper then running used tires. Cuz you only need 4 rims and only need to mount and balance for rims. imo.

lol, yea i didn’t change. But i only ran 3 hrs. Only 1 hr of hardcore sideways. Other 2 hours was soft shit, while i learned the course.
But yeah bro. 595’s are insane. Grip is crazy, and sideways treadlife is insane. Thats why so many drifters worldwide use them.
But just in general any new tire will last long. 595’s are just the king of the hill when it comes to cheap good drift tires. I m not the only guy that thinks so.

well i think for next season i’ll have to grab some 595’s for my 4 spare wheels i have now, and then maybe buy two more wheels and two more 595’s. haha

federals are good, but start chunking hardcore after a few HARD e brake drags
my best advice is to get multi link, i use to get 2-3 laps, now i get 4-5 laps and i get WAY more smoke (girls love smoke)
my rear alignment is -.6 rear camber and .2 degrees toe in
i wanna use maxxis tires next year, had a set this year and totally loved them

yea Peter, I actually have a full multilink setup. I think I have somewhere close to -.6 degrees rear camber and 2 degrees toe in aswell haha. a buddy of mine told me he could get me maxxis ma v1’s for a real good price. know anything about them by chance?

I’m going to echo basically everything that’s been said here. Buy NEW tires. Run less rear camber. Run “normal” tire pressures, start at 30 cold and shoot for 32-37 hot depending on your setup/driving style. Federal, Falken, Maxxis, BFGoodrich, etc
