# Bike problems

Tonight i go to start the motorcycle, and it literally took like 5 minutes to start it. First time this has ever happened, was wondering what the problem could have been. It was completely off for a few hours, go to start it with the choke and it wont budge. Its not the starter cuz its trying, but wont kick over. And lately its been backfiring when downshifting also. Im guessing its an old coilpack thats on its way out, but im not too familiar in the bike scene yet. Anyone have some ideas? Its an 89 ninja 600R

I’d start by checking the voltage. May be a slowly dying alternator. Not sure about the backfiring though… Was it turning over quickly?
