Federal law enforcement officials confirm the Binghamton shooter has been found dead inside the American Civic Association.
Sources tell NBC News that the gunman acted alone.
Thirteen people have been confirmed dead in this morning’s shooting at the American Civic Association in Binghamton.
It began Friday morning at an immigration services center in Binghamton, N.Y. At least 41 hostages were in the building of the American Civic Association. Nearby apartments were being evacuated. The gunman had a high-powered rifle.
The suspect was described as an Asian male in his 20s, between 5-feet 8-inches and 6 feet tall, wearing a bright green nylon jacket and dark-rimmed glasses.

Binghamton Police have surrounded 131 Front Street, the American Civic Association. Action News crews on the scene say they saw people being carried out of the building. Scanner reports say there are 41 people inside the building, with as many as 4 people shot.
Scanner reports say a man went into the building and started shooting.
When the shooting started, people inside escaped to the basement in search of safety. More than a dozen people are hiding in a closet, for more than an hour now. Emergency dispatchers are in contact with some people inside by phone. Police have sent some people to Wilson and Lourdes Hospital, and have requested ambulances to the scene.
Police have shut down Court Street heading west at Water Street. They have also closed Main Street at Murray Street. Binghamton High School has locked down the school, and will not allow students out for lunch.
Action News has crews on the scene and will bring you up to date details as soon as they are available.

Apparently the place provides career counseling, help finding lost family members, job search advice, and assistance in citizenship to immigrants.
How much you want to bet that it’s someone who recently became unemployed and blames the dirty immigrants for taking his job?
This is really terrible. What’s wrong with people?

It’s on my way home, about half way between work and home. my GF said she thinks a kid she graduated with is a Director there. Waiting to see what happens.
And I don’t think it’s someone with an agenda against immegrants. The person is of asian decent according to the paper.

Confirmed: 4 dead. FoxNews is reporting a 5th gunshot victim in critical condition at the hospital, but AP is still at 4 total.

Apparently my speculation was wrong. Not seeing anything on CNN about it, but JayS is now reporting that it’s an Asian male, so clearly I could not have been correct.
In case you’re wondering where he reported it, rather than posting in the thread, he just posted for the April ban vote. :lol:

A CNN affiliate is reporting that, according to the police, 12 people are dead.
E: A citizenship test was reportedly being administered at the building when the shootings began.

Pretty much always the case in these. What a waste. RIP (The victims anyway. The gunman makes me wish I weren’t an atheist so I could picture him burning in hell).
