You’re the dope man. The Corvette lineup in general has always been considered the working-class American supercar.
The Z0 trim has technically been around since 2001.

Add a few pounds for the 20" wheels. Obviously its not that much more but its something, and 550+lbs is still a big difference. Thats like racing 2 cars one with a driver and the other with a driver and 3 passengers. Also he might have been calculating the convertible wieght which is another 440lbs heavier.

The DOHC BMW just doesn’t have the powerband that the pushrod V8 does in the Z06.
