so the other day i took my car for a drive for about 30 minutes or so, and i noticed that the temp gauge was reading almost H. i turned around and went to put it back in the garage, and as i was reversing i noticed there was a HUGE cloud of white smoke, i also noticed a sweet smell and it was leaking quite a bit of coolant, but i thought maybe the little coolant tank had maybe spilled or been overfilled. i wont be having this car on the road till july or so, and then it’ll only be on for a month, but should i save that money for a sr swap? as for this car will not be running much, and if not how much would it cost to repair the head gasket? ---

Headgasket prices range. To do the work yourself, it could cost anywhere from 50-100$ (basically just for parts). IF the head is warped and needs to be machined by a shop, your looking at anywhere from 800$-1000$ for parts and labour. Since you dont plan on driving for ahwile, save up and do a swap. Unless you plan on doing a rebuild and maybe going turbo. (would be way cheaper then an SR swap.) ---

well, it doesnt smoke THAT much, just enough to kinda concern me, but i was thinking maybe theres a leak somewhere in the coolant lines, or the head gasket is blown, when i bought the car it kinda had a sweet smell when the car was idling, but it doesnt get driven alot, so an engine rebuild is probably my best bet, and a tranny swap ---

if its a KA just swap it. you can get one for cheap and some people even give them anyway for free. ---

I can build you a very Reliable Ka-t. If you do not have to drive the car, park it and save your money.
