Hello, I am looking for some insight on some tips on BMX bikes. I am looking for a used bike, and dont know what to look for. I would like to spend less than $250, and have some good quality components. I have done some googleing, but would like 1st hand knowlege. Thank you. ---

Kinda both, I am going to be purchasing him a bike for Easter, so I would like to ride with him. And what I mean is jump curbs, ride wheelies, endos, bunny hop, simple trick stuff. I used to do it back in the day… So the bike would be for me, he is 5, but most likely will be riding it soon. I don’t mind used bc of the abuse it will see. Any thoughts? ---

If the bike is too small you’ll be hitting your knee on the stem. Too big and the kid will be riding it like a crotch rocket. ---

i picked up my sunday wave 2 from craigslist for $300 as a complete that only needed a little elbow grease to get back into good riding shape. its prob your best bet to look on craigslist for stoners looking to sell their bikes for weed money… ---

The only way to get good components for under 250 will be finding something used. The things you want to look for are sealed hub bearings,internal headset, mid bottom bracket and a 3 piece crank. Avoid any department store bikes, avoid gt/haro/eastern/dk, good brands would be Fit/Verde/Kink when it comes to good completes. Honestly if you were will to pay a little more I would grab something like this [http://www.albes.com/fit-inman-1-2012-stock-bike.aspx](http://www.albes.com/fit-inman-1-2012-stock-bike.aspx) easily upgradeable, has all the standards down and is a good top tube size to grow into without being way to long. ---

RASP is a bunch completes in stock, you can test. You can get a 2011 for cheap, If hes 5 you can get a 18" ---

I used to ride my bmx with the fam. My son is 5 and just biggie sized to a 16" tony hawk toys r us bike. I have noticed kids today, never ever have the seat positioned in a way that allows them to extend their legs at all. Sure, it’s great for decnet jumps and tricks, but it looks very uncomfortable fo rthe other 90% of the ride. It’s not a bad bike that’s for sure but spending the extra 50 bucks on something better is worth it imo. ---
