> I think people want to grab something that they can hold on to and relate to. As if the bombing wasn’t bad enough, we have to deal with dram queens and Facebook yuppies who want the attention on them instead of the real issue. There is an 8 year old child who will never grow up to be apart of anything in this world and all people want to focus on is that this was a setup by the government or someone who was tired of trying to have their guns taken away. Sometimes I’m ashamed of my generation and the ones below me just for how disconnected they are from the real things that matter in life.

I agree it’s sad society is so disconnected, it’s horrible and no way to live. That said, part of living in a responsible society is trying to bring the REAL villains to justice…not boogeymen. What happened at Sandy Hook was disgusting and saddening, what happened afterwards also makes me sick. The government & media marched children around and used them in an agenda to disarm responsible citizens. We shouldn’t blame ball bearings or explosives for being placed in the bomb, we shouldn’t ban ball bearings now should we? We have to be honest with each other about the problems, the REAL problems. This isn’t a right wing or left wing issue…it’s an 'Merica issue!

^ Sadly after how effectively the left used Sandy Hook to push an agenda; pushing the anti-gun message before the bodies of dead children had even been removed from the school… I don’t think you’re ever going to see the left or right observe a time to mourn and put aside political difference again. The left proved that the best time to take advantage of a tragedy is while it’s still fresh in everyone’s mind and there really is no such thing as “too soon” to start exploiting a tragedy.

Yeah, that was about the shortest press conference in history.

Did you hear someone ask the E-room doctor if his Israeli training helped him?

From the press report going on right now, 9:42 AM:

“Only 2 explosive devices were found, no other unexploded bombs were found”

Just goes to show that so much false information gets spread around when people are trying to figure it all out.

> Facebook is litered with completely misguided and false stories. There’s one where a guy is huddled over a girl and the story goes something like this; “This man was going to propose to his girlfriend at the finishline, but she was killed instead, remember your loved ones and hold them tight.” The two people pictured aren’t even runners and the girl isn’t even dead. People are so strange.

did you hear the one that says it was an 8 year old girl, not boy, that was killed. also that they were running for “Sandy Hook” If you read more into it, the kid gave his dad a high five and was running back to his mom when the bomb went off. Nothing about the kid running or anything about a girl running that got killed and doing it for sandy hook.

Really sick of people trying to make stories out of tragedies like this. People are fucked and its getting old fast with this social media.

I saved a bunch of those pcs they are incredibly graphic. They have a few of one guy that got both of his legs blown off.

With all of the brutal injuries that you’re hearing about, it’s so surprising that the death count is only at 2. These bombs could clearly do some damage yet only a few fatal injuries were sustained? I guess you can call that fortunate.

Well I could be wrong, but I think the point of using ball bearings in these bombs is used with a severe intent to injure, but not kill. Those killed were probably the ones right next to the garbage can that the bomb was in. I guess a lot of the surgeries they were doing was removing ball bearings from people.

The reason that IED’s are packed with ball bearings, nails and other items are to kill, mame and inflict the most damage possible. The actual explosion and material from a bomb by itself wouldn’t do much damage outside the immediate vicinity (number’s wise).

Up to 3 I last heard, but with all the injuries, it will probably continue to rise with days to come…

^ This. They said tests have shown it wasn’t a high grade explosive like C4. Lower velocity DIY stuff like ANFO isn’t going to pack the same lethal blast when you scale it down to backpack size.

So the bombs were inside 6 liter pressure cookers, placed in black duffle bags. One filled with ball bearings and metal shards, the other with nails. As per AP and Fox News. This style of device has been seen before in the Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Oh, and Obama finally used the word “terror”. :roll2:

And they said it’s likely the bombs were timer activated, making me have serious doubts about this person of interest they have under guard at the hospital who was badly injured in the blast. If you take the risk of making it timer activated vs a self detonated suicide bomb chances are your plan is to be outside blast radius when it goes off.

That and the fact that paramedics were already stationed at and near the sites with ambulances on hand for downed runners. Speed saved dozens from terminal injuries.

Doesn’t Al Qaeda usually claim their bombings not too long after they happen? Also, they have been saying that the directions for making these types of bombs have been put out there by Al Qaeda for anyone to make.
